Reckless: It's Christmas Eve, and a ditsy, seemingly cheerful spouse (Farrow) is informed by her abruptly regretful husband that he has taken out a contract on her life. A conceivably smart spoof of middle-style domestic relationships and fake holiday praise swiftly descends into a roaming, completely absurd comedy of the ridiculous. Cast includes Mia Farrow, Scott Glenn, Mary-Louise Parker, Tony Goldwyn, Stephen Dorff, Eileen Brennan, and Giancarlo Esposito. (92 minutes, 1995)

Jurassic Park III: This amusing popcorn film that takes a scenario and plays it for all it's worth as professor-paleontologist Neill is convinced to lead an expedition to the prohibited island where dinosaurs wander, however obviously he hasn't been informed of the realities. The movie is full of scares, and lots of fun proving that a thriller doesn't have to be dumb. Cast includes Sam Neill, William H. Macy, Tea Leoni, Alessandro Nivola, Trevor Morgan, Michael Jeter, John Diehl, and Bruce A. Young. (93 minutes, 2001)

A Face in the Rain: The movie is a tense melodrama with Calhoun as a U.S. espionage agent being concealed in Italy by a local anti-Nazi who's the mistress of a German officer. This is a WW2 drama. Cast includes Rory Calhoun, Marina Berti, Niall MacGinnis, and Massimo Giuliani. (91 minutes, 1963)

PCU: Political correctness is out of sorts at Port Chester University which leads to the unavoidable conflict between a cadre of excessively militant scholar groups and a college girl group who revel in their political incorrectness. Cast includes Jeremy Piven, Chris Youthful, David Spade, Megan Ward, Jon Favreau, Jessica Walter, Sarah Spark, Jake Busey, and George Clinton. (80 minutes, 1994)

Lillian Russell: This is a strained bio of the early 2Oth-century megastar. Lavish surroundings and weak plot line decrease Faye's work. Arnold replicates his Diamond Jim Brady role with zest. Cast includes Alice Faye, Don Ameche, Henry Fonda, Edward Arnold, Warren William, Leo Carrillo, and Nigel Bruce. (127 minutes, 1940)

Alice Sweet Alice: For profit spacecraft unwittingly takes on an extraterrestrial being that wreaks ruthless chaos on the team. This space age terror film reverts to the 1950's style, although unfolds at a determinate pace, populates the tale with fascinating, vibrant characters, and plants its good scenes very nicely. Cast includes Tom Skerritt, Sigourney Weaver, John Hurt, Ian Holm, Harry Dean Stanton, Yaphet Kotto, and Veronica Cartwright. (117 minutes, 1979)

Iron Maze: Japanese industrialist Murakami, wishing to construct an entertainment park in a Pennsylvania steel town, is viciously attacked. His American spouse (Fonda) and a laid-off steelworker (Fahey) offer variant conceptions of occurrences leading up to the episode. Cast includes Jeff Fahey, Bridget Fonda, Hiraaki Murakami, J. T. Walsh, Gabriel Damon, and John Randolph. (102 minutes, 1991)

No Man Is an Island: The spotty production values harm this real tale of serviceman Hunter stuck on Guam throughout the 3 years the Japanese controlled the region. Cast includes John Friars, Jr., Richard Goldstone. Jeffrey Hunter, Marshall Thompson, Barbara Perez, Ronald Remy, Paul Edwards, Jr., Rolf Bayer, and Vicente Uwanag. (114 minutes, 1962)

Alien VS Predator: This film is a lame effort to allure fans of the Alien and Predator films, with the scenario engaging an archeological journey to the ends of the world, a weird underground planet, and the presence of the catastrophic Alien and Predator beasts. Cast includes S. Anderson. Sanaa Lathan, Raoul Bova, Spear Henriksen, Ewen Bremner, Colin Salmon, Tommy Flanagan, Joseph Rye, Agathe de la Boulaye, and Carsten Norgaard. (101 minutes, 2004
