S.o.B.: An inventor hatches a plan to turn his latest turkey into a hit: juice it up with pornography and have his spouse-megastar (Andrews) show her breasts. A glib satire on contemporary Movieland tosses in everything from black humor to dry, with wildly choppy outcomes. This was Holden's last film. Cast includes Julie Andrews, William Holden, Richard Mulligan, Robert Preston, Robert Vaughn, Loretta Swit, Larry Hagman, Marisa Berenson, Robert Webber, Stuart Margolin, Craig Stevens, Shelley Winters, Rosanna Arquette, and Jennifer Edwards. (121 minutes, 1981)

Spellbound: This is a wonderful documentary that follows 8 extremely variant youthful contestants who partake in the 1999 Nationwide Spelling Bee. Ths film is an immeasurably amusing and often pointed assessment of notions in reference to prosperity and the American fantasy, with the very last spelling bee as fascinating as anything to be discovered in a fiction film. (97 minutes, 2003)
The Sellout: Small town newspaper editor (Pidgeon) finds himself in over his head while he tries to get the goods on a corrupt sheriff (Gomez). Cast includes Walter Pidgeon, John Hodiak, Audry Totter, Paula Raymond, Cameron Mitchell, Karl Malden, Everett Sloane, and Thomas Gomez. (83 minutes, 1952)

The Shadow: Lamont Cranston, having lived a life of ethical degradation, is "reborn" as a single minded crime fighter with the talent to read gentlemen's minds. This adaptation of the venerable mush novels and cherished radio show (brought to the theaters in the late 1930s). Cranston is both inscrutable and boring. Incredible production layout and wonderful outcomes get lost in a film that keeps the viewer focused on Ann's magnitude all the way through. What a waste of an awesome supporting cast! Cast includes Alec Baldwin, John Lone, Penelope Ann Miller, Peter Boyle, Ian McKellen, Tim Curry, Jonathan Winters, and Sab Shimono. (105 minutes, 1994)
Dinner Rush: A tumultuous day in the life of a fashionable N.Y.C. restaurant. Owner Aiello is considering of giving up his bookie job, his cook is requesting part ownership of the restaurant, and then 2 mobsters materialize to pay an unfriendly visit, etc. Flavorful film has the ring of reality inside the restaurant, and outside it is is brimming with life. The Big Road: This movie is about a shy busboy who commits himself to a selfish nightclub singer. The film is abnormal (and oddly watchable), with extremely unorthodox roles for both Fonda and Ball. Cast includes Henry Fonda, Lucille Ball, Barton Mafamilye, Eugene Pallette, Agnes Moorehead, Sam Levene, Ray Collins, Hans Conried, and Ozzie Nelson. (88 minutes, 1942)
